Intermodal Passanger Terminal | Russe ,Bulgaria

The intermodal transport is a method for transporting persons or goods, which uses two or more kinds of a transport means.

Russe, Bulgaria is the largest port city along the Danube River. From here pass major trans-european roads and railways. Ruse Airport is located on 17 km from the city, nearby Shtraklevo. The construction of additional railway link with a length of 17 kilometers is predicted, with the aim that this type of transport will be integrated into the new structure – on underground level. The project planes a new high-speed road flanking the area of interest, as the goal is easy and quick access and to avoid entering the boundaries of the village. On the territory there are many objects and facilities associated with the main purpose and contributing its functioning - passenger terminal, bus station, runways for landing and take-off, taxiways, apron, fuel facilities, fire service, administration, control tower, cargo terminal and hotel. For the service and interaction of these objects is provided a specialized (automobile) transport.

The proposed interventions in the transport infrastructure allow connection of a network of three transport types in one building (road, rail, air) with a direct connection, and fourth (river) with indirect connection.

In order to determine the necessary facilities and their capacity are used standardized mathematical formulas created by IATA (International Air Transport Association). As Russe Airport is not functioning at the time, that statistics for the capacity data are borrowed from Varna airport.

Structural performances achieved for the development area are as follows:
Total Area - 1,900 acres, of which
65% - Green areas
30% - Road infrastructure, sidewalks and alleys
5% - Built area
